Are additonal murders necessary?

Postby jhartley1366 » October 10th, 2007, 12:25 pm

Hi - I've read through all of the information, its very detailed! Thank You!

One vague question that is still bugging me is:

For Murder at the Four Deuces, after the weapon clue sheets are figured out and the weapon cards are found, everyone draws for Action Cards. Does drawing for action cards affect anything in the game? There isnt anything in the documentation that goes talks about "additional murders"

Can you explain that small part? Why would you do an additonal murder? What if our party didnt do any? Would that hurt anything?

also, say if an additional murder is committed, is that person who was murdered effectively out of the game?

thanks!

Additional murders are not necessary or required, but they sure do add a LOT of spice to the game. First of all, you have the clue driven weapon scavenger hunt. Then the lucky few who find a weapons card, have an instant source of power and cash.

There are many reasons one of your guests might want to commit murder. If someone threatens to expose your terrible secrets, you just might decide that this person needs to be taken care of before they do that. You have those that could want revenge for a terrible thing done to them, maybe you suspect your wife of cheating with your boss. There are many reasons murder is committed... money, greed, power, love and jealousy, are all very good reasons and they are rampant in a murder mystery game. Of course, committing murder in itself can be a challenge. They cannot do this without a card, so they have to try to locate a card and handle the whole situation. Kind of like hiring a hit man. It is going to cost dearly in one way or another. Not that I would know personally, of course!

Now drawing action cards does not affect the game, but these are also 4 nice cards to have. Especially the Immunity card. These are king of like holding a wild card in a game of poker. It can't win you the game, but it can give you an advantage.
