Just hosted 4 Dueces on Saturday

It was alot of fun! We had 32 guests!

My wife did all of the hard stuff, and we'd change a few things. I think next time we will not have random murderers - some people weren't the murdering type, and waited too long to kill! Also, I think it would be better if the confidential data was given to the guests as they arrive - they need more time to familiarize themselves with it. (What? I run a horse racing scheme.. Are you sure I do?? Let me check..) or "I have an accountant??"..

We liked the Casino, the Brothel, the $$ aspect, the theivery, backstabbing, etc. Everyone came in great costumes (MeMe was told that she looked very authentic), and we gave out $10 Starbucks cards for prizes. I made a blog with pics - I even gave a plug to Thanks for such a fun party night.

To others reading this - I recommend this game. Having a full bar made it even more fun (or silly), we had huge 20s posters everywhere, and there was special 'viewing' in the brothel - it was not for children :) Everyone said how cool everything was. We will definitely have a Grand-Reopening sometime next year.

There is a method to our madness with the Confidential Booklets

1. It is about avoiding information overload.
People will get confused and feel overwhelmed if you pile them up with too much information too soon. Our method allows people to start getting into the skin of their character, before hitting them with all the other info.

2. We do not want them knowing about the murder, before it happens!
The Confidential talks about the murder victim, so you would be blowing that for everyone and it would be a little confusing reading about a murder that has not yet occurred. "Why is Big Jim here? My Confidential says he is dead!"

3. There are things that need to be accomplished before the murder can happen. If everyone had all their information, it would be a confusing madhouse, instead of people getting into character and having their very necessary pre-murder confrontations.

I would highly recommend not giving out the Confidential until after the murder. Your examples are in the backgrounds or in the Guest List descriptions, which everyone has. Sly's background tells him he runs a horse betting ring, Jack's tells him he is an accountant.

We actually do not want murders happening until later in the evening, which is why the weapon cards are not done until after the Evidence is presented. At our parties and most I have heard of, they loved the murder aspect and scheming over the weapon cards was a huge part of the game.

Thanks for the blog posting! Great photos there!
