November 2008 Contest Entry - Wonderful Time

Postby sarajoy » November 15th, 2008, 9:22 pm

We hosted the Four Deuces Murder Mystery Dinner and didn't know what to expect. We were pleasantly surprised as we had a wonderful time!

We didn't do a lot of decorating but we did make a Power Point slide show that was on a loop showing on our t.v. The slide show included old gangster photos, product ads from the 20s, and an announcement of the grand opening of the Four Deuces. (It's 652 KB so we couldn't upload it.)

We invited about fifteen people, most of whom did not know each other. It was a great way to get all of our groups of friends together. It was hysterical to see perfect strangers huddled in the corner of the bathroom trying to exchange secrets or extort information from each other.

The ages and interests of our guests were very diverse but everyone felt like friends before the night was over.

Before the party started, we were concerned that we wouldn't know when it was over. The instructions are right - - you can tell when it's time to end it! Ours took about an hour and 45 minutes to finish.

A fun idea that we took from a suggestion on this forum was to assign prizes for "The Best..." We got them all from the dollar store and prizes were: hand clappers for Best Actor, Detective kit for Super Sleuth, nose/glasses/moustache for Best Costume, and Bling gems for Most Money.

The only change that we would make for next time is we would spend the extra money to get the boxed kit rather than printing all of the supplies. The files were easily accessible but took a long time to print/organize. The directions were excellent and gave us all of the information needed to host a great party! Before all of our guests left, we were already making plans for Four Deuces 2!
