Santa Clause Murder- December 2008

Postby kimmiller » December 24th, 2008, 8:00 pm

The Santa Clause Murder Mystery was the talk of our school staff. Because of the theme, uniqueness and for the first time in many years, different staff members were interested in attending the school’s annual Christmas party. There were 44 staff and guests present, so all the original and extra characters were used. This is the most staff to attend a holiday party in several years. Additional staff members were given the role of inspector, so everyone could participate. Everyone enjoyed dressing and acting their parts. Other school’s staff members were envious of our unique annual holiday party too!

The party was held at a private home with the majority of the characters remaining in the large family room. A buffet dinner was served and the host announcement was given, then the game commenced. And on cue from their character booklets, characters assumed their roles and gave speeches or played the dieing part extremely well. The inspector inspected and confidential booklets were dispersed.

Because of the numbers of characters and size of the room after the weapons game was played, characters chose all weapon and informational cards by drawing them from a bag. There were enough blank cards, so everyone could select a card. Characters enjoyed using the weapon cards to remove necessary players. Some people used the opportunity to sell found blank cards as “weapons” to other unsuspecting individuals. Others were exceptional actors when dieing!

As the game came to an end and the host compiled the votes and the awards were presented. Barbie Dahl Scam and Badger Nutkins were selected best costume. Lou Natic was voted best performer, Justin Case became the wealthiest player. Since 4 characters selected the murderer correctly, the best detective prize was chosen by a drawing. Each were given the certificates and a small little gift: Best Costume received a bow tie, snowman filled with hot cocoa and a winner medal; Best Performer received star glasses; the Wealthiest player received candy money; and the Best Detective received crossword puzzle books, I Spy game, and a T-Shirt with the Dinner and Murder Mystery Logo. Everyone loved the awards.

Thank you Dinner and Murder Mystery for our wonderful Christmas party. This is the best idea to get all of the guests involved by sharing something in common- searching for the murderer. Everyone participated without any nervousness or shyness, and it was a very successful party! This party will be talked about for a long time.
