Hold an auction at your party!

This is a really fun idea for your party:

Go to the dollar store and buy multiple items like scented candles, neat picture frames, wind chimes etc... things you think your group might like. In addition to this you can ask everyone to bring a small item for the auction. $5 limit is good. After the solution is read you can start the auction & let people bid on these items using the game money that they have managed to acquire during the game.

Here is what happened when we did this: People with good winnings bought the things they wanted and then people gave some of their money to those who didn't have any or very little money so that they could buy items too. People got into bidding wars and were paying $500 for an item :D Everyone left with a neat momento of the evening!

Our group are pretty selfless so if you have some guests that may try to hog everything it is a good idea to make an announcement before the auction that the point of the auction is to allow everyone to leave with an item, so if anyone has excessive winnings they are encouraged to share with those less fortunate.

For my Immortal murders party I am going to have an auction.

Probably about 15 items of various value and different things

Players pay a certain amount for them after the evidence and then can trade them around during the evening. All items have a set value to be bought back for at the end of the evening. So an item and player can make a loss or a profit. There will be subtle clues to an items value and some people will get slips saying a piece of knowledge about a item.

For example Arthur may buy a piece of silver and want to know if it's real or not. Prof. Jackson has been given a slip saying that he can check if silver is real or not (and whether it is). Prof will then offer this service to Arthur so Arthur can know whether to hold onto it or try and sell it to others who don't know about it being fake.

It sounds like a lot of work, but I am sure your party will be better for it. I love when people get creative with their parties! :D
