A million thanks to you!

I purchased 4 Deuces Teen for my daughter's 16th birthday. As it was her 16th -- and she was born on New Year's Eve -- she was hoping for a very special event. She certainly got her wish! The party simply couldn't have gone any better! Your playing tips, guide to hosting, and the wonderfully written premise all but guaranteed a smashing evening.
When the kids first found out what the party plans were, they were a bit nervous. After receiving invitations and character sheets (and some web links to 20's fashions) though, things took off rapidly. I think they may have had as much fun deciding on their costumes as they did playing the game! :D
Every one of them looked absolutely wonderful (and, I think, learned a bit as well).
We had transformed our living room into a 20's nightclub, complete with a bar, tables, stage/stage curtain/stage lights, and casino implements. When the kids first arrived, they were a bit self-conscious and had a little trouble getting into character. Having the craps table and roulette wheel served as a great ice-breaker and gave them all a way to ease into character. As The 4 Deuces was celebrating its grand opening, we had alcohol-removed champagne (check your local wine shop for this) presented by our "wait staff" in flutes to all arriving guests. For the bar, tea was flavored with rum extract and served from corked bottles, along with appropriate mixers. They had much fun with mixing their own drinks.
You advice to have extra charcter sheets on hand was excellent -- one guest came to me and admitted he hadn't read the material at all. When we were able to "bring him up to speed", he became on of the most enthusiastic players of the evening!
My daughter had done some research into food fads and favorites of the 20's, so the dinner served after the murder was 20's authentic. A couple of my friends helped out as servers (we were dressed to match the party theme, but didn't participate as characters). The guests seemed to really enjoy that -- in fact, the "Baroness" took great delight in "ordering around" the "wait staff"!
As the evening progressed and the guests got more comfortable with their roles, things really got going -- extortion, bribery, and murders were the order of the evening!
We had a few who correctly identified the murderer, and others who were absolutely stumped. They all agreed at the end of the evening, though, that it was a great party.
The kids themselves have given the best endorsement: They have all asked my daughter, "Can we do the sequel next year?"
Thank you again for helping give her an unforgettable 16th birthday!

I am so glad to hear about your daughter's party & I thank you for taking the time to leave your feedback. A well written murder mystery party is truly a unique experience & something your daughter and her friends will remember forever. It makes me happy that my creation helped you provide that for your daughter!
